Wireless Network Security; Few Things To Keep In Mind

Accessing the web world wirelessly has become a popular trend all across the globe and it has call for the importance of wireless network security. It has been seen that 75% of the WLAN users do not have standard security features installed in their systems which make their system completely vulnerable towards deadly viruses, Trojans and malwares. The least you can do is to set the router/access point through wired clients and to change the default administrative password.

Enabling at-least 128-bit WEP is a must and it is advisable to change your WEP keys periodically. If your system does not support at least 128-bit WEP encryption, consider replacing it. For better security attach a wireless network card in your system and connection properties should be configured to allow connection to access point networks only. Computer to computer (peer to peer) connectivity should not be allowed. In any case, if your system becomes a victim of an unwanted situation contacting a desktop support technician is the best option.
